The brand was founded in 2002 by Filipino designer Furne One, in partnership with textile expert Rashid Ali. Amato, which means "beloved" in Italian, has earned a global reputation for creating intricate, opulent, and dramatic garments that are often described as wearable art. 

Amato's signature style is defined by its use of lavish materials and complex, handmade embellishment techniques. Furne One's designs frequently feature a blend of fantasy, romance, and edginess, drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources, including nature, history, and mythology.
